Cymphonix Allows College Preparatory School to Control its Internet Traffic

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb 24, 2009 - Cymphonix® today announced that Lakeview Academy, an independent, college preparatory day school for grades Pre-K through 12, has installed Cymphonix Network Composerâ to help manage network bandwidth and provide visibility into activities taking place on the school’s network.

 

Lakeview Academy prides itself on maintaining a solid network infrastructure operating over 500 computers on campus including laptops and PCs. Recently the school began experiencing bandwidth issues caused from increased use of educational Web 2.0 content and streaming media in the classroom. It became clear to administrators that Lakeview Academy needed a solution that would allow them to both manage and see the Internet traffic crossing its network. 

 

Connie White, director of technology and media for the school added, “We needed the flexibility to adjust our policies as online resources become more prominent in the classroom. Meeting these demands requires a solution that is robust enough to block students from accessing certain websites but still allows teachers to utilize the resources provided by these sites in the classroom.”
