With the growth of Web 2.0 and the increasing use of Web-based applications, Web-based threats have become a significant security concern for businesses. Some of these threats come in the form of outside attacks from virus or malware writers who embed their wares in email or on Web sites. Other threats are unwittingly brought in by members of the organization who bypass older filter technology either through anonymous proxies or filter avoidance software.

Organizations need a way to manage these threats, but many of the solutions in place today cannot protect against anything but the simplest filter avoidance techniques. This leaves the organization vulnerable to users who bypass the filter and connect up blocked sites. On these sites, user can become infected with malware and viruses. If they are using anonymous proxy software or sites, they are further putting all of their network traffic at risk including potentially confidential information.

How we do it better

Cymphonix® eliminates a user’s ability to use anonymous proxies and other forms of filter bypass by using multiple levels of defense. Network Composer® also uses deep packet inspection, antispyware, and antivirus routines to protect against malware attacks that may be masked deep in the payloads of otherwise innocent-looking traffic.

Zero-Day Threat Protection

The challenge with only using a database to protect against spyware is that unknown threats can sneak through, but this isn’t the case with Cymphonix. Network Composer provides deep packet inspection, gateway antispyware, and antivirus to provide robust protection against Web-based malware threats. Cymphonix’s Network Composer delivers:

  • URL Malware Database Matching: Leverages several databases including industry-leading Sunbelt Software CounterSpy™
  • Class ID Matching: Checks ActiveX and Flash objects for malware
  • MD5 Sum Matching: Checks MD5 sum on files (exe., com)
  • Real Time File Scanning: Scans user downloaded file in real time checking for malware
  • Identifies infected PCs: Tracks and reports computers that are infected with malware
  • Spyware Removal: Cleans PCs infected with spyware with a client ActiveX removal tool
  • Deep-Packet Malware Detection: Looks deep into the packet payload for spyware in file downloads and page loads regardless of the URL

Triple Layer URL and Web Inspection

The Cymphonix Network Composer employs a combined approach of application classification, URL categorization, Dynamic Content Analysis, and HTTPS inspection to prevent users, whether accidently or intentionally, from accessing inappropriate sites or content. With Cymphonix Network Composer, you’ll know your organization is secure.
